SPRING NEWSLETTER
Newsletter Spring 2015
Spring has arrived! All we need is some better weather. All classes have settled down nicely so I thought it was time for a newsletter.
DKC now has 2 Senior Assistant Instructors & 2 Junior Assistant Instructors,
Will Pooles 1st dan, Tony Caddick 2nd dan & Beth/Ellis Waller both 3rd kyu.
All CRB/DBS cleared & insured to teach if applicable, most of you know these guys as they very kindly give up their time to help in lessons. I must also thank the higher grades for their help in the classes they attend.
We have been trying to think of ways to take DKC forward & following discussions with DKC students (high grades & low) & also other Martial Arts Instructors (some highly recognised) We would like to introduce the following:
Junior 5 to 9 Syllabus (upto 3rd kyu Brown Belt)
As the name suggests this is available to Junior Students within the ages 5 to 9 years old,
at grading, rather than having to complete everything needed for the next belt, you could miss out the kata (this seems to be the hardest bit for youngsters) If you complete everything else ok you would receive a ‘striped’ belt. At a later stage you can show you have learnt the kata (s) needed & receive the full colour belt. (costs will not be affected of course)
For example;
Little Jonny is a yellow belt but he is struggling to remember Pinan Nidan & Shodan for his orange belt, he could still assess for an orange/white stripe belt & when he’s ready he can grade to full orange (just showing these 2 kata) An old but good DVD is available to buy from DKC for £0.50 (to cover cost of disc) so he could practice at home.
New Licence & Grading Record Book
DKC now has a NEW L&G book to replace the original card book, These will be handed out after the next grading with your up-to-date grade in. (please remember to hand your old licence book in prior to grading)
Bring a Buddy
If any student would like to introduce a friend to DKC both will train free for that class, if your friend continues to train & becomes a member of DKC you will receive a free DKC T shirt & free KATA DVD.
DKC welcomes any feedback/suggestions that may help the club grow.
The 1st 6 KATA DVD & DKC FULL Syllabus are available to buy (awfully cheap)
